Design Challenge

Science Fiction fans who enjoy movies and television do not often purchase books about their favorite shows. Movie-lovers and television fans think that reading books takes too much of their time. To solve this issue, Sci-Fi Chronicles is a website meant to promote reading and brand profitability. Sci-Fi Chronicles’ goal is to sell books that go in detail and depth about sci-fi storylines.

The target audience are Science Fiction lovers who do not read Science Fiction books but want to learn more about their favorite storylines, characters, and plot alternatives. The number of average Sci-Fi viewer fans is greater than the number of “nerd” Sci-Fi book readers.

Solution

By completing research and creating mood boards, a logo and e-commerce website were developed to promote the brand, increase sales, and provide more detail in favored Sci-Fi series. A logo, showcasing book titled “Sci-Fi” along with the name of the brand, was developed to communicate an exclusive bookstore dedicated to Science Fiction book selling.

The content was intentionally structured to convince viewers to purchase books and dive further into the website. To make the website comprehensive, neutral typefaces, structured layouts, and contrast were implemented design elements that provide accessibility to users and meaning to the content.

Outcome

As a result of the website, fans want to have meaningful conversations to discuss and further expand their “nerd” status. Once fans dive into the books, they begin to see the value of reading versus watching.

Most importantly, books sold on the website increase fan-based knowledge by creating depth, structure, and fanaticism.
